International Bacon Day

Bacon… Ohhhh… Everybody loves bacon!!!

International Bacon Day is celebrated in the United States last Saturday before Labor Day. This year it is Saturday, August 31!

Here is the recipe that I will make that day:

Bacon and egg pie

1.       Roll out a pastry in a pie dish;

2.       Fill it with chopped hard-boiled eggs, crushed bacon, and small amounts of salt and black pepper;

3.       Pour an egg-milk mixture is then poured into the pi;

4.       Add another layer of pastry on top.

To make it healthier I will add some chopped veggies to the mixture and use turkey bacon to reduce calories (don’t be mad at me, bacon lovers!).

How about you? Are you ready? What is your favorite recipe that uses bacon?

Vegetarian/ Vegan Campfire Food for this Labor Day weekend.

I went camping last week on the nice shores of Pismo Beach. It was a great experience as you get up early with the birds chirping around and you open your eyes to see the gushing ocean waves.  This experience got enhanced as we prepared some amazing Indian snacks and dessert while camping.
We started with some nice PANEER TIKKA, which is a vegetarian grilling dish. (Paneer- non melting cheese, usually found in Indian Grocery stores).  It’s a very simple and easy to prepare this grilling dish.
  • Take some paneer cubes, capsicum, onion and tomatoes cube and marinate it.
  • Add some spices to taste and ginger garlic paste.
  •  After few hours grill them for 5-6 mins and you are done.                                            For detail recipe please visit TandoorPaneerTikka

We finished our dinner with an amazing mouthwatering campfire desert called Fruit and S’mores cones. It’s one of the simplest desserts I have prepared. It consist of
  • Mixing fruits like strawberries, bananas, dry fruits, coconut powder, S’mores , Chocolates and fill it in waffle cone
  • Cover waffle cone in foil and grill it for 5-6 mins.

 And your dessert is ready.  We can have this dessert a vegetarian and Vegan dessert by using Vegan Chocolates and no S’mores.
